PERMISSIONS & CONTACT

preface.

You can read more about BBC3's 'In The Flesh' here.

Kieren is a 'partially undead syndrome sufferer' (PDS for short). In short, he's a zombie. He used to eat brains, groan unintelligibly and look like this. He's now medicated however; has free thought, can run, skip, jump and talk just like he could before he died. Neurotriptyline is not a cure by any means, but it's a legal requirement for Kieren to take it every day in order be Kieren. If not, goodbye rational thought and feeling, hello cannibalistic rage.

So, he's dead! Kieren wears government provided make-up and contacts to hide his pale skin and dead eyes. You can have a peak at his au naturale state here and here; he looks like this with his cover up on!(warning for gif). What this means is that Kieren is cold to the touch, doesn't eat and doesn't drink. The longer he goes between Neurotriptyline doses seems to determine how human he looks.

'In The Flesh' does not subscribe to the lore of 'you get bit, you get infected.' Whatever caused the dead to rise is not contagious. Bites, scratches etc. will not have any affect on your character, except your typical inflamed skin infection if it goes unwashed and bandaged. Kieren is strong though - strong enough to tear a skull open while in his untreated state! His pain threshold is unbelievably high - a punch to the face won't bother him (but he has shown discomfort and described stinging in his eyes from his contacts).

Additionally, Kieren's character deals with themes of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder and suicide. Kieren suffers from all of the above and killed himself late in 2009. Physically, Kieren has to open gashes on his wrist and a hole in the back of his neck where his Neurotriptyline goes.
